It's Giving Tuesday!

Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday was built with the simple purpose of encouraging people to do good. Ten years later, it is now a nonprofit organization and global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. On this first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people are encouraged to use this day to give back to their community after a weekend of shopping and consumerism. Giving can be any act from smiling at a stranger, to offering time, to giving money. Giving Tuesday is the biggest giving day of the year around the world.

This fake holiday and day of giving makes a huge impact on charities, non-profits, and movement organizations across the globe. Participating gives these organizations the opportunity to attract new donors and raise more money. UMass Dance Marathon is just one example of a movement organization that benefits greatly from the generosity that is shown on this day. Last year, 15% of our fall fundraising came from donations made around Giving Tuesday.
